At Diffabilities, we believe in creating a world where individuals with developmental disabilities are empowered to live fulfilling lives, embraced for their unique abilities. Based in Edmonton and Sherwood Park, we provide adult day programming, behaviour consulting, therapy aide support, and respite services that prioritize personal growth, independence, and inclusion.

Who We Serve
We proudly serve individuals with a wide range of developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Intellectual Disabilities, and other developmental or neurological differences.
Our programs are designed for individuals who seek more than just care—they seek growth, purpose, and connection. We understand that each individual’s journey is unique, and we are committed to tailoring our services to meet their specific needs and aspirations. Through skill-building, meaningful interactions, and a nurturing environment, we help our friends achieve milestones they and their families never thought possible.

Our Story
Diffabilities began in 2022 with a visionary mission to transform disability support into something truly empowering and inclusive. Founded by Sarah Dewhurst, the organization set out to challenge traditional models of care, focusing on the strengths and potential of individuals with developmental disabilities rather than simply meeting their basic needs. What started as an innovative idea quickly grew into a thriving community dedicated to celebrating the abilities of every person we support.

With locations in West Edmonton and Sherwood Park, Diffabilities provides a range of services for people with disabilities that focus on personal growth, skill development, and community integration. Over time, our organization has built strong community partnerships, expanding to offer work placements and activities that encourage independence and vocational growth. These partnerships not only create opportunities for learning and real-world experiences, but they also help foster a sense of belonging for the individuals we serve.

Families are at the heart of Diffabilities. Our "Friends" (as we call those we support) are encouraged to set and achieve their own goals, with input from their families along the way. This collaborative approach ensures that the unique needs and aspirations of each individual are met. Friends and families also help shape the programming at our centers, contributing valuable insights and ideas that make our services more effective.

At Diffabilities, we don’t just focus on the individual’s development within our programs—we also celebrate the whole person. We believe that life is made up of milestones, and our community comes together to honor these moments with our Friends. We celebrate together, including birthday parties, holiday celebrations, achievements and summer activities. Through this, we build meaningful connections and create lasting memories, reinforcing that Diffabilities is not just a service provider, but a supportive, inclusive community.
