Community Resources

RootEd. was started in hopes of creating opportunities for individuals with and without disabilities to meet and form friendships-building roots in their community.  They want to share their understanding of disability and perspective on diversity with others in hopes of creating a community in which all individuals have the opportunity to engage meaningfully with others, build relationship, and connect with those around them. RootEd. hosts social events in the community on a monthly basis. 

PLAN stands for Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network, a family directed organization that supports individuals who face isolation, often due to a disability, by facilitating personal networks which lead to relationships, community involvement and a safe, meaningful life.

They aim to support a future where all people have authentic personal relationships, community involvement and a safe, meaningful life. They endeavour to do this by building meaningful lifelong relationships by facilitating social connections for individuals with disabilities.

Rio Terrace Church is a community of "spiritual journeyers" - people of many backgrounds and with many faith commitments - who seek to follow Jesus in simplicity, humility, and with love for all. Our diversity is our strength and we hope that you will find safety here, to live your own questions, follow your heart, love God, and care for others.

Rio Terrace Church and it's community support many of the endeavours of DiffabilitiesYEG. They are strong supporters of our friends through various means. 

NorQuest is a college in Edmonton that provides educational training for individuals looking to follow their passions. NorQuest is the modern face of Canada. Their commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion creates a true place of belonging.

Many of the teachers at DiffabilitiesYEG are NorQuest alumni, graduating from programs such as Disability Studies, Educational Assistant, Child and Youth Care, and more. DiffabilitiesYEG is a proud practicum placement site for students in the Community Studies programs at NorQuest.
